Welcome to the Butler Youth Lacrosse 2022 Season

We are looking forward to a great season!

President's welcome letter

I would like to welcome all new and returning players to the 2022 lacrosse season! We are very excited to start our winning season.

I am very happy to announce that our Girls team has moved to the Gold league! Most of the returning players will recall all the issues from last season with regards to the former league's management. I can assure you this is a very different league and from what I have seen so far I am excited for our young ladies upcoming season. Gold has all teams organized into divisions and we are in the North division which is the largest and will give your daughter’s team the opportunity for a lot of playing time. Also Gold has a tournament in late May which will be a great time for our program to showcase all the amazing skills the girls have learned over the season. Lastly, Gold requires our coaches to get level 1 coaching certification which will give them the necessary skills to compete at the high level Gold expects.

One change for the Boy/Coed teams all players MUST get a NOCSAE certified chest protector prior to the first practice. This is a US Lacrosse rule change and will be enforced by the refs prior to all games. If a player is found without the required chest protector that player will not be able to participate in that game. THIS CHANGE DOES NOT APPLY TO GIRLS TEAMS.

This year has presented us with a challenge with regard to indoor practice space. Unfortunately the school system does not have the ability to give us any school facility due to covid restrictions and the need to accommodate school sponsored sports first. While I’m disappointed with this outcome, your board members have been searching for an alternate space to use until we get outside when the weather breaks. We were able to secure the former Oakland elementary school for every Wednesday starting Feb 9th thru March 30th. While this isn't ideal we will utilize the time we have to be inside to get everyone prepared for the start of the season. Our outside practice space will continue to be at the Butler Intermediate practice fields. We will have the practice schedule available soon.

We are very blessed to have Terry (U14), Erik (Girls), Megan(Girls) and Dave(U10) returning to coach this season. I am very excited to welcome Brody Allison to our coaching staff and look forward to seeing U12 dominate this year. As always we would like anyone that is interested in coaching to reach out to the coach of that team. This year we would also like to ask a parent to step up and become the team parent to help organize team activities throughout the season.

Butler Youth Lacrosse will not require nor enforce masking for players and spectators. We do ask however to respect individual coaches requests to ask players to mask up or social distance while not wearing a helmet. Furthermore we will not tolerate bullying from either side of the mask issue! We expect players and spectators to respect everyone's personal decision whether to wear a mask or not.

This season like all the rest cannot happen without all the amazing volunteers who work behind the scenes and make this organization power through all the challenges and changes. We are currently looking for volunteers for positions throughout our organization and would appreciate any help you can offer. If you’re interested in helping please email us at BYLAX@zoominterent.net

I personally want to thank you for trusting our organization to teach your children this amazing sport and look forward to watching all the incredible games we have coming up. Let's go Butler!

 Sincerely,

Jim McKee

BYLAX President
